Our professors offer real-world, diverse career experience  within the aviation industry and can connect our students to working professionals for internship and job opportunities during the program and after graduating.

Our classes combine lecture with hands-on training using the latest flight simulators and air traffic control simulators. At Brackett Airport we have eight school owned airplanes that includes Technically Advanced Aircraft and a Tailwheel training airplane for emergency maneuver training required for commercial pilots.

We have seven flyable aircraft that are housed at Brackett Field in La Verne, available for students who are interested in learning to fly. Last year, the program welcomed a new aircraft used for emergency maneuver training, and with this addition, it makes us the only Aeronautics program in California to offer tailwheel training, which allows a pilot to fly in Alaska and other countries. 

Mt. SAC is partnered with the FAA in all our programs. We are an FAA approved Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI Program), one of the first twelve colleges nationwide. Graduates receive preferential hiring when applying with the FAA. And we are an FAA approved program for FAA Aircraft Dispatcher (AD) certification (only a handful of colleges in CA). We are also an FAA UAS-CTI Program for unmanned aircraft training (drones). These FAA partnerships are a vital part of our student success in aviation careers.

Our students have excellent prospects for transfer to universities with aviation programs because of the excellent  quality of our academic courses and the support we give our students. Mt. SAC is partnered with SIU for a Mt. SAC on-campus aviation bachelor’s degree program (Southern Illinois University), and we are partnered with Cal State Los Angeles for anx aviation bachelor’s degree program on the CSULA campus. Both colleges offer streamlined application process for our graduates.

Students continue to learn outside of the classroom by getting involved in our award-winning student organizations, including our nationally-recognized championship Flying Team, active student chapter of Women in Aviation International (19 percent of our graduating students are female, compared to the national average of 6 percent) and the Student Air Traffic Controllers Association (SATCA). Not only do these organizations offer exceptional professional experience, but they also allow our students to apply for scholarships and connect with our industry expert alumni.
