The Electronic Assembly and Fabrication Certificate is intended to prepare students to enter the electronics field as assembly and fabrication technicians. The program provides a series of courses to meet the needs of industry in assembly, electro-mechanical skills, soldering/de-soldering skills, printed circuit board design and fabrication for both through-hole and surface mount devices (SMD). Included are skills for various types of cabling and connections.
Electronic fundamentals are learned which include electronic test equipment and measurement, electronic components and devices including sensors, microcontrollers, coding, and schematic diagrams. Electronic Assembly and Fabrication skills as well a advanced surface mount technology (SMT) skills are taught, which are similar in content to the Institute for Printed Circuit (IPC) IPC7711/IPC7721 rework and repair of electronic assembly certification.
