Family Science Festival Attractions

There’s lots to do and see at Family Science Festival and best of all... it's FREE! Attractions are located in different zones (see below) and will run from 10am till 1pm. Guests can collect stamps for each activity they participate in and win prizes for completing a certain number of stamps!

Raffles will be held at 10:30am, 11:30am and 12:30pm.

Zone 1 - Building 4 Walkway

This area includes the following activities (listed in alphabetical order). All activities will be on-going throughout the event.  Special guests, The American Chemical Society-San Gorgonio Section will have a booth with activities and FREE giveaways!

      • *Planetarium shows occur at 10am, 11am, 12pm, and 1pm. Guests will meet up at the Planetarium Show booth at the designated time and be escorted to the Planetarium.

Zone 2 - Science Quad 

This area features special activities such as 'Ziploc Ice Cream' (FREE) and the local high school robotics team, 'techATTACK'! Food sales will also occur in this location. Please consider supporting our event and students by purchasing food. 

Zone 3 - Building 61 (Math and Sciences Building)

The following locations and exhibits will be open for the duration of the event. These are all self-guided tours and guests are free to explore on their own. No food or drink are allowed in each of the locations. For your safety, please follow any and all directions that staff members give.

The Exploratorium

The Exploratorium (Building 61, 1st Floor) is Mt. SAC's very own science museum! Featuring a vast collection of fossils, minerals, gemstones, and various other areas of science, this exhibit is something you don't want to miss!

The B.J. Meek Collection

The B.J. Meek Collection (located inside the Exploratorium, Building 61, 1st Floor) is a collection of taxidermy animals donated by B.J. Meek for scholarly purposes. The collection holds over 30 animals and will be open for guests to enjoy!

Guests are welcome to take selfies and videotape in the Meek; however, there is no touching allowed. Food and drinks are not allowed.

The STEM Center

The STEM Center (Building 61, 3rd floor, Room 3320) will be hosting a 'Science Trivia Game Show' where contestants can play and win prizes! The game show is broken up by levels. Come join the fun!

  • 10:15am  - 10:45am: Lower Elementary (K-3) 
  • 11:00am - 11:30am: Upper Elementary (4-6)
  • 11:45am - 12:15pm: Middle School
  • 12:30pm  - 1:00pm: High School and Above 

The Mt. SAC STEM Center is located in 61-3320. The STEM Center provides academic support and resources to all Mt. SAC students.  Students who visit the center will find study spaces that include whiteboards and computer monitors, laptop computers, microscopes and slides, textbooks, and anatomical models.

Zone 4 - Building 60 Upper Patio

Hungry or tired? Guests can find a resting and dining area at this location. This area also features our very popular Mt. SAC Robotics Team exhibit. Guests can go up the stairs or take the elevator in Building 60 to the second floor.
