Annel Medina Tagarao is an Educational Research Assessment Analyst in the Research and Institutional Effectiveness Office at Mt. San Antonio College, where she has served since 2012. She brings over two decades of experience in institutional research, specializing in data analysis, reporting, and research that support planning, decision‑making, and student success initiatives. Her work spans a variety of projects, including student learning outcomes assessment and longitudinal student cohort studies for the U.S. Department of Education. Her research interests include institutional effectiveness, qualitative inquiry, and structures of opportunity that influence diverse student experiences. Annel earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Educational Policy Studies (Sociology of Education) from the University of Illinois at Urbana‑Champaign and her B.A. in Sociology and Political Science from the University of California, Irvine. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and her extended network of family and friends.
