Primary Courses: PHIL 8: Critical Thinking, PHIL 9: Critical Thinking and Writing

 

My educational background ranges from a Bachelor's degree in Business, to a Master's and Doctorate in Education/Psychology, to recently, yet another Master's in Philosophy.  I wanted to do (and did!) several different things at the beginning of my career: I taught third grade, owned a tutoring clinic, supervised six secondary schools, and worked as a Director, Assistant Dean, and then Associate Dean at Cal State Fullerton.  I quickly realized that I wanted to work in higher education.  More importantly, I learned that what I enjoy doing most is being in a classroom with college students.  I have taught full-time here at Mt. SAC  for more than 20 years now, and I am thankful for making that choice as I truly enjoy my chosen career. 

 

I have also practiced (and at times taught) Kundalini yoga for the past 15 years.  And yes, I am one of those people...you know...the vegan, green-tea-drinking, all-creature-loving people... In my yoga classes, I also practice philosophy.  Sometimes, I ask my students to reflect on the question: What if the hokey-pokey really is what it's all about?
