Students of Distinction
About
Each year, Mt. SAC honors the best of the best among its students. Nominated by faculty and staff in four categories: Academic, Service, Competitive, and Personal Achievement, according to the nomination criteria listed below.
Selection Process
Nominated and eligible students who are interested in competing for this award submit an essay focusing on the category in which they were nominated, letters of recommendation, and an Activities Transcript for those who were nominated in the Service Achievement category. The Students of Distinction Committee will then review all documents submitted along with the student's academic transcript and rate each student according to a predetermined criteria. Based on scoring, the Students of Distinction Committee will then select a total of 20 Student of Distinction Recipients.
Selected students will be honored at a formal ceremony in the Spring semester and will receive a $2,000 scholarship, a plaque, lapel pin, and legislative commendations in recognition of their achievements.
Scholarships and awards are sponsored by the Associated Students.
