Express Zoom Counseling

  • Express Zoom Counseling services are offered by the Mt. SAC Counseling Department to make answers to quick questions easily available by using Zoom. It is important to note that Express Zoom Counseling is for quick questions only and the hours that it is available are limited. There are no Counselors available in Express Zoom Counseling outside of the hours listed below.

    Fall Semester Hours

    • Mondays | 8:30am - 6:30pm
    • Tuesdays | 8:30am - 6:30pm
    • Fridays | 8:30am - 3:30pm

    Express Zoom - Limited to 15 minutes

      (abbreviated educational plan)
    • Advice on adding or dropping classes
    • Errors registering classes
    • Educational Planning questions
    • Advice on schedule adjustments
    • Graduation and transfer inquiries 
    • Probation status check
    • General counseling assistance

    Before you join meeting

    Have these ready:

    1. It is recommended to use a Desktop/Laptop instead of a Smartphone.

    2. Mt. SAC ID A# (A00000000) ready, when you enter zoom waiting room
      Finding your Mt. SAC A#

    3. Provide your Full Name in Zoom.

    4. Allow yourself time to wait.

    Stay in the waiting room

    • For privacy, the host meets with one student at a time.

    • Have your Mt. SAC student ID number ready.

    • If it is busy, please stay connected. *

    *Leaving and rejoining puts you at the back of the line.

    Tell the host what you need

    • Rename yourself in Zoom: First Name + Last Name + Student ID.

      Example: Rizzly Mountie - A00000000

    • Briefly describe your question, such as a registration error or class concern.

    Stay in your breakout room

    • Counselors can see when you entered and will assist students in order they arrive.

    • During busy periods, the wait may be 30 minutes or longer.

    • Stay in your breakout room. Leaving may cause your turn to be skipped.

Student Conduct

Student conduct at Mt. SAC must conform to district policy and college procedures. Violations to the Online Counseling services, for which students are subject to disciplinary action, include but are not limited to the following:

  • Forgery, alteration, or misuse of college documents, records, or identification
  • Tampering with the Express Zoom Counseling website, internet access and software, or misuse of any computer technology
  • Knowingly furnishing false information to the Express Zoom Counseling team.

Privacy Protection and Confidentiality

Information about you is confidential. Communications will be accessible to all online counselors and administrators.

  • Per the Family Rights and Privacy Acts (FERPA), I hereby grant permission for Mt. SAC online counselors to release information about me
  • I authorize online counselors and administrators to access and use my records
  • I have provided an accurate and private email address
  • I have provided accurate personal information, educational history, and educational goals
  • I am the student associated with the student ID reported in the following intake.
