If you teach online at Mt. SAC, you have been SPOT-certified. Online professors already know: using technology for teaching is a continuous learning process!
The current faculty contract specifies: “SPOT certification is valid for a period of four (4) years. Every four (4) years, professors will be required to obtain a recertification ... approved by the Academic Senate, not to exceed four (4) hours.” -- (13.A.3) in the Faculty Contract
For those of you who have not yet submitted your certificates for the 2024-2025 academic year, we ask that you hold off on submitting recertification paperwork for the moment. We are currently working on a way to automate this process, which we hope to have in place after the start of the new year. We thank you for your patience!
Steps to Recertify:
- Sign up for and complete the mandatory RSI Requirement. A stipend may be available!
- If you are teaching online, 1 of these hours must be an RSI Review.
- If you are not teaching online, 1 of these hours must include any of the following workshops that address RSI:
- RSI Labs 1-4
- RSI for Equity & Inclusion
- Take the 1-hour mandatory Regulations Update self-paced course.
- Complete 2 more hours of additional SPOT-recertification qualifying workshops.
- Check your transcript in POD. You may have already completed activities in your recertification window!
- If you need more workshops, self-paced and asynchronous sessions are available to choose from! (Check out the What courses are Approved FAQ for previously approved workshops; use our search engine to find future and self-paced workshops.)
- Submit your recertification documents after you have completed all your hours.
- You can complete your certification requirements anytime within the 4 year period, but please do not submit your documentation earlier than the academic year in which your certification is due.
