At Mt. SAC, you must be SPOT-certified and recertify every 4 years to teach online.
The current faculty contract specifies: “SPOT certification is valid for a period of four (4) years. Every four (4) years, professors will be required to obtain a recertification ... approved by the Academic Senate, not to exceed four (4) hours.” -- (13.A.3) in the Faculty Contract
To Complete your Recertification
Online professors already know: using technology for teaching is a continuous learning
process!
Because technology and regulations are subject to change, you must refresh your skills
with 4 hours of training each four years. Through the end of the 2025 recertification
cycle, you must submit your recertification. Not sure when your recertification is
due? Check your next recertification due date on the SPOT Certified Faculty Page.
