Mt. SAC offers students various Vocational introductory Business courses including: Accounting, Payroll and Tax Accounting, and Essential Office Skills.   • Financial Database Management

    This course provides instruction to small business and database software, including Intuit QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel, to introduce elementary computer literacy. Data entry including work with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Create and work with customers, vendors, and basic bookkeeping transactions.

  • Office Skills

     This is an introductory program providing instruction in Office Management Skills, Microcomputer Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Programs) and Career Development/Work Readiness to prepare students for an entry level position. The course is approximately 10 weeks, offered multiple times a year.

  • Ownership Clerk

    The Ownership Clerk program introduces students to change in ownership policies as stated in the California Assessor Handbook, Section401. Students will gain the fundamental knowledge of change in ownership topics such as forms of individual property ownership, life estates and estates for years, trusts, leases, and legal entities.

    Key topics: Forms of individual property ownership, life estates and estates for years, trusts, leases, & legal entities.

    Career Opportunity:
    Successfully complete the program and you may be eligible to apply for the Ownership Services Technician I position at the LA County Office of the Assessor.

  • Payroll and Tax Accounting

    This program prepares students to become payroll and timekeeping clerks, as well as for introductory tax positions to work in the payroll and accounting department of any business or organization.  It surveys the various tax procedures required by the employer and employee in filing the correct forms for Social Security, federal and state income taxes and their reconciliation.  Laws related to Worker’s Compensation, State Disability Benefit Laws and Fair Employment Practices are discussed.
