- What You Can Do to Prepare Now
  Students must complete the following before applying:
  1. EMT Certification (*+1,000 hours EMT Experience)
  2. Assessment Questionnaire (AQ)
  *Note: In addition to EMT certification, students must complete a minimum of 1,000 hours of EMT experience for the Paramedic Academy.

- About
  
  The goal of Mt. SAC's Paramedic Academy is to prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. The core courses also provide a path to an Associate in Science Degree in Emergency Medical Services.
  
  Since 1987, Mt. SAC has been providing quality paramedic training and is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) through 2023.
  
  The Paramedic Academy includes a 16-week intensive didactic (classroom and skills lab) program. This is followed by six (6) weeks of Clinical Internship in several hospitals, followed by 10-12 weeks of Field Externship as a practicing Paramedic Intern under the guidance and supervision of a Paramedic Field Preceptor. Individual placement of students in Clinical and Field internship slots is provided by the Program. As some clinical and field locations may be 50 miles away from Mt. San Antonio College, reliable transportation is required throughout the program.
  
  You must be a currently certified Emergency Medical Technician with 1,000 hours of field experience to apply to the Paramedic Program and maintain EMT certification throughout the entire duration of your training.
- Military Applicants
  
  All military applicant must have a valid California EMT License. All military applicants must show proof of medical related experience on their DD-214 form.
  
  Submissions of DD-214 forms and applications can be made in person in Bldg. 28B Room 208.

- Required Documents
  The following items are required in order to be considered for the program:
  Current BLS Provider Card — Submit a copy of your current BLS Provider card.
  
  Current California EMT Card — Submit a copy of your current California EMT certification.
  
  Valid California Driver’s License — Submit a copy of your current California Driver’s License.
  
  EMT Experience Letter — Submit a letter from your employer verifying a minimum of 1,000 hours of EMT experience. The letter must include a percentage or hour breakdown of IFT/transport experience and/or 911 response experience and must be printed on official employer letterhead with a wet supervisor signature.
  
  Military Applicants — DD-214 — Military applicants must submit a copy of their DD-214 documenting applicable medical-related experience.
  
  Proof of High School Graduation or Equivalent — Submit a copy of your high school diploma, high school transcript showing graduation, or recognized equivalent. This requirement applies to all applicants, even if an associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or other higher degree has been earned.
  
  Official College Transcript(s) — Submit official transcript(s) from all colleges and universities attended, if applicable.
  
  Mt. SAC Assessment Questionnaire (AQ) Results — Submit a copy of your Mt. SAC AQ placement results demonstrating eligibility for READ 90 or higher. Applicants who have received an approved exemption from the Mt. SAC assessment requirement must submit documentation of the approved exemption.
  
  Proof of Mt. SAC New Student Orientation Completion or Approved Exemption — Submit proof that the Mt. SAC New Student Orientation has been completed. Applicants who have received an approved orientation exemption must submit documentation of the approved exemption.
  
  **Important: Before submitting a Paramedic Academy application, students must first complete a Mt. SAC college application for the same term in which they are applying to the Paramedic Academy and have a Mt. SAC Student ID number.
  
  Applications submitted before or after the specified application period will NOT be accepted.
